Machine Guards, Kogarah Food Plant, 14 Lines.
Polycarbonate machine guards for a Kogarah food processing plant. 14 enclosures, food-grade compliance, on-site fitting by arrangement.
What needed solving .
A Kogarah food processing plant needed machine guards retrofitted across 14 production lines after an internal safety review. Each guard system needed to be impact-rated, food-grade-compatible, and easy to remove and refit for cleaning cycles.
Existing wire-mesh guards were failing the safety review, visibility and impact resistance were the issue.
How we solved it .
We specified clear polycarbonate panels (8 mm) for visibility and impact resistance, frame-bonded to powder-coated steel mounting rails fabricated externally. Each guard system designed from the line drawings, with quick-release fixings for cleaning.
On-site survey at install, our team measured each line in person rather than working from CAD alone, since older food plants have subtle variation between supposedly identical lines. Adjustments made on the spot, then production guards delivered and fitted by the plant's maintenance team.
What shipped .
All 14 lines passed the post-install safety re-audit. The plant's maintenance manager has used B&M for guard upgrades on three subsequent line additions.
